Are we missing something you think? Could this perceived silence from M actually be us missing the next piece being released in a different format than we expect?
I know that Darin wants exposure for FTS and maybe wouldn't want to artificially limit the potential audience, but his timeline is based on the long game. He said there were 7 chapters and they would all be different and that some may be easier to participate in than others.
Could there be something hidden in Superfight and the upcoming Red Flags? Do you think that M/Darin/LS is so decisive as to keep all his projects separate? I don't think so. He couldn't help but slip in an easter egg with Mr. Black in the original kickstarted Superfight deck. Does anyone have access to the new skybound branded decks and can comment on other potential FTS related cards? Who knows where or how he might roll out the next stage. Maybe there's a different shade of black on the back of FTS related cards that when all laid in a line with the right angle and light spell out a message. I'm not sure what Red Flags could offer. I'm just trying to think of anything that might be a possibility rather than just assuming that because we haven't made any progress that M is actually quiet.
Darin tweeted that he remembered FTS, so without further info, could that mean that he remembers because he's still doing something but we're not? I don't know guys. I guess since I haven't even seen cornchak in here for sometime that things seem even more dead (no offense to you ohhoe and madejya and exic who still pop in or lurk). It's probably just a rabbit hole. Maybe we can just explore the story elements like cornchak suggested a while back when examining the diner scene.
We rallied for the #IRFTS, we can do it with another effort. I'm not the one to cheerlead it, for sure.
Is this Stockholm syndrome? I feel beholden to LS and the dribbling out of this story has never made me anything less than eager for the next drop. I'm trying to find a way that he's still been reaching out to us and we've been the ones to fail to progress. It's a need for control I guess. I don't know.

I've wondered the same thing. Mostly I think he's been unexpectedly busier than usual given how much he's been travelling, but I also can't help but think he's been planning FTS stuff during his travels, planting seeds so to speak, so when the next step comes there will be sprouts in many places.
I'm hoping to get a Superfight deck fairly soon as I'll likely finally be in a situation where I'm physically around enough people to play it. I'll let you know if I see anything.

But, unexpectedly busy for a year and a half? I'd say that is possible, maybe even probable.
I sorta like what you suggest - that he's laying ground work right now, preparing for the time when the next chapter/clues drop.
However, why the big rush rush rush to finish chapter one on M's part if chapter 2 wasn't ready to go? It makes me think that it *was/is* ready and there's something that is missing on our part.
I can just as easily argue the other way though that he's making a conscious decision to not open the box on something that he can't right now give the time and dedication it deserves.

I thought there was something FTS-related that he wanted to do at a convention and wasn't allowed—I assumed that delayed Chapter 2 (along with his travel, etc., recently). Like I mentioned in another thread, he's going to be at NerdCon: Stories in October, and I have a suspicion that whatever he couldn't do at the other convention he might be allowed to do at that one.
But you're right that I believe M said at some point that Chapter 2 would be very different from Chapter 1 (and all the other chapters would be too), so we might be missing something? I dunno! I guess I assumed it would still kick off with the Orange Key being involved somehow, like Chapter 1 did with the Blue Key.
I've been really bad at FTS so far though so what do I know. XD

stockholm syndrome is a fitting way to put it.
as i'd said in chat, i, like towels, assumed that the new key would be involved for the start of the next chapter. though there is this nagging feeling (or, passing thought?) that there may indeed be something currently out there for us to discover. but if chak thinks it's still just a waiting game, well... he seems to read into things pretty accurately so far. aaaand that can stir up a previous theory/conspiracy (joke) - that cornchak is just another one of darin's characters! planted because our dumb butts wouldn't be able to figure out this stuff without the undercover nerdkitten assistance.

Well, I do agree that chak has an uncanny ability to read this accurately.
If he ended up a plant though, I would be exceedingly surprised.
But, I definitely don't agree that the Orange Key has to be out there for the next chapter to begin unless it is somehow inherently different than the Blue Key. But, the Blue Key was an iPod and we know the Orange Key is an iPad mini. We don't know what's on the Orange Key, true, but the Blue Key nor its owner factored one whit into the Chapter 1 solve...that we are aware of.

From Darin's featherandmatch.com site:
"Follow me on twitter or sign up for the mailing list at the top of the page to be notified when M is back, and check out FindTheStarlight.com for more."
I really don't think this is something we need to make happen. I think Chapter 2 just needs to reach a larger audience than Chapter 1 did, and things are probably being put in place to make that happen.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if SubjectOfTowels was right. Is anyone planning on being at that NerdCon thing?

I'll be at NerdCon! I will do my best to report back on anything that seems remotely FTS related!

"He's Here" is the latest post on the FTS Tumblr, so I just posted this in the Ask box:
M, old friend... have you returned to us at long last? The nerdkittens have missed your irksomely magnificent riddles and have treasured the clues and the camaraderie this mystery has forged between former strangers-turned-Starlighters. Our hearts have never left this story, and we're ready for whatever awaits us in Chapter 2. We're here.

So I am throwing my hat in on the "So there I stand until one crosses" ring. He's crossed.

So I am throwing my hat in on the "So there I stand until one crosses" ring. He's crossed. Yep, sounds like it. Sorry for the insy-outsy these past few months btw, but you know... life. I don't pay much attention to LS on social media other than Instagram, mainly because I don't have the means to purchase Superfight or do Con stuff, plus I haven't been doing much on Twitter, and LS/FTS has no meaningful presence on Facebook. I'll be watching all the channels more closely now, including the YouTube one. I feel like we're due for another video... the visual stuff is a very compelling way in to the story for anyone who's wondering what FTS is all about, and he's had ample opportunity to shoot video for FTS in his many travels recently, and may well have been inspired to do more than just hide clues. No response to my ask, but I didn't expect one at this juncture. But I do think we're back. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

I had an idea just now while chatting with Cherrybomb on IRC...
If LS had a hand in making FTS one of the stories being told at the upcoming NerdCon: Stories in Minneapolis (where Cherrybomb lives, HOW RAD IS THAT?), what if the "he" our story has been waiting for is actually an actor hired to be M and tell the FTS story from his perspective at NerdCon? It sort of fits the clues to think that maybe M is about to be made flesh, especially in the post just before the He's Here one where he talks about subverting expectations about the way he will "deliver the story."
I'm into it!
