But with the symbols it just seems SO right. And Truth? Come on. What a perfect word.
So perhaps it is right but the "show your work" bit is the hang up? Maybe you need to further explain your reasoning for the leap to get to the Declaration of Independence? Because I'm not clear on how first name and independence work with discovery unless we suddenly are switching to a new girl. And LS implied that M wouldn't do that. From there, everything fits. But perhaps you have to have a better explanation of how you got there?
Maybe M could perhaps state that the door is now "cracked" or "straining against the chain" so we could have some sort of indication of progress without giving in to the temptation of dropping clues.

i agree! i would be fantastic if m enlightened us if he heard any solid knocks on the door, or could see that the key was in but not quite turning in the right direction. also, does anyone happen to have a sledgehammer? that would be great. EDIT: haha, i just saw this: <Kaylen> If this doesn't work, let's just get a battering ram. i'm not alone!

But perhaps you have to have a better explanation of how you got there? My steps from the discovery painting: Mind her corner - the particular painting is on the southern lunette of the southwest pavilion. Looking at what I could see from online, there are no exits in that corner, but the window overlooks Independence Street. Through that hole go - through the window, or through any southern exit will take you to Independence Street. or as Tymethief suggsted, mind her corner (the southern) and through that hole go (the door to the southern gallery) takes you to where the signers of the Declaration of Independence are engraved in the architecture. but if we can't use Independence as "her first name", then I will have to work at it again. I really liked this idea though.

yeah... i think it could work somehow, too. so, if i'm understanding correctly, the "first name" being "independence" is reached because the first name/thing encountered after leaving the loc is independence street. hence, independence. i think where jed and i are confused about how declaration fits into it exactly, with either path. unless it's just the fact that the definition/synonym of "declaration" can be "news"? i guess it just being really clarified/broken down might help with the door, and help the rest of us understand better EDIT: and i do agree with jed that m/ls clarified that the "her"s are all referring to discovery... so, yeah, there's that.

We need to all get together and discuss this in person. It could be called FTScon. But it wouldn't even be a convention. It would just be a handful of people around a table muttering to themselves with occasional outbursts.

LOL- I just got a visual of several people around a coffee table squinting through medallion holes

dudes, this would be RAD. super weird, but so rad. bible pages, printed out emoji pages, laptops, notebooks full of scribbles and arrows and charts- a few peeps would be hyped on coffee and some would be getting drunk to "loosen up and help the ideas flow"... what an eclectic, utterly chaotic mess we would be. i can almost hear the IRL "WAIT!" and "OMG GUYS" and "WOW!" that we see in the chatroom, followed by the person who fell asleep on some couch in the corner totally jumping up all excited until we realize it might not actually be anything, and then all going back to our laptops and notebooks and muttering. then one of the drunk ones yelling out BAH BAH BAH... i need to stop - this could keep going.

It's too bad LS doesn't have a forum account. Then he could join in with our conversations.

Here's what I just submitted (my first full solution!) - anybody know if this has been submitted before?
Lost girl [Discovery] / Follow her North/ to where her father [George Maynard] carried her forth [LoC Discovery Mural in the SW pavilion]/ Mind her corner & through that hole go [through to the ground floor/visitor's gallery]/1st name follows news you must know [Information - the welcome desk w/ information about the building & its creators]/The 11th breath is Nov 11, when Edward Pearce Casey, the son of the architect, took a train to dedicate a monument in Key West. The 3rd word on it is "OF".
Interestingly, "of" is also the 3rd word of the poem. That made me smile.

What if we're too late and nothing is going to open the door now because no one's on the other side? D:

I just really loved the simplicity of my solution... the way it smacked you in the face at the end, because you'd taken this trip only to go right back to the beginning.
