This thread is based on the hypothesis that the numbers on the minecraft book pages are a cipher in and of themselves. I'm interested in seeing us document numbers based solutions that we test and run to ground. (Please keep this thread focused on number solutions. For the sake of those of us who wish to focus on deciphering, please use a separate thread for theories that use the numbers to jump to ideas on biblical story interpretation and minecraft and pictures and the wanderer and poems and the man in the moon.) Here's my spreadsheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqCPrMFkrcdYdG1PSnJldmIwV0NZNW0zbnJrblJrclE&usp=sharing The Data: - 351 total numbers
- 92 numbers are unique (not repeated)
- 167 numbers occur in replicate
Of the 167 in replicate:
- 41 numbers are pairs
- 9 numbers are triplets
- 10 occur four times
- 4 occur five times
- 2 occur six times
- 4 occur 7 times
- 2 occur 8 times
- 2 occur 10 times
- 1 occurs 14 times (the number 14)
Observations/thoughts/feelings: - it seems as if 92 unique numbers is too many to be useful, perhaps the same with the 41 pairs?
- it's interesting that 14 occurs 14 times.
- I think we should keep in mind past guidance on not overcomplicating things, so if an idea seems super math major hard to connect, then it probably is.
- In all likelihood, we're going to link back to a kit/bible page, or a phone number, or a IP, etc.
that's all for now. have fun.

Further to this line of inquiry, I'm reposting something I posted earlier in the Mine = Minecraft thread.
Here is the Minecraft book message as it appears on the 6 pages, but with only the double digit numbers showing ("those that hold each other dear"). I removed anything that is below 10 or above 99. The repeats are very encouraging.
22 55 41 75 54 98 62 44 75 22 91 42
97 20 39 77 84 58 91 22 77 59 42 97 70 87 68 13 14 72 83 73
62 72 44 31 17 22 14 84 28 17 97 82 72 80 36 77 19 28 77 48 42 13 73 12 14 95 77 85 14 97 10 14
80 10 12 13 80 44 38 44 96 75 77 72 75 71 24 41 90 71 14 35 13 25 13 14 22 77 12 72 14 21 51
21 13 14 16 95 72 88 22 15 75 32 34 42 37 13 14 44 62 82 44 15 33 11 21 61 14 82 12 16 14 72 14 11 15 14 82
13 44 72 62 13 13 15 77
My theory is: a) either we're solving this smaller set of numbers as a cipher using one of the bible pages like many tried to do with the full set of numbers OR b) maybe to boil it down even further, our next step is to eliminate any number pair above that occurs just once and isn't repeated, and perhaps that will give us just enough numbers for another IP address ("remember how it goes").
So far, I've found the most frequently repeating double digit numbers above are
14** (14 times) 13 (10 times) 77 (8 times) 72* (8 times) 44 (7 times) 22 (6 times) 75 (5 times) 97 (4 times) 15 (4 times)
-THERE MAY BE ERRORS because I did this with half a brain and tiredness of the eyeholes-
PS: *Thx to exicice for catching this one I missed. (**And summersumz for the most frequent repeater I missed, #14!)

I used unique and countif in Google spreadsheets, because I am an erring human. Someone asked about the 1-26 counts. The LHS column is the numbers from the pages. The RHS is the # of occurrences. 1 2 4 6 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 19 20 21 22 24 25 | 5 10 7 1 1 2 2 4 10 14 4 2 2 1 1 3 6 1 1 |
Go gadgets, go! *ETA: I suppose this would be more useful if I listed the numbers in order as well...on the to do list.

A sheet is added to the spreadsheet that shows the numbers that are <27, in the order they appear on the minecraft book pages.

I took a trip on a whim to visit M. This is what awaited me. (There's a blank white spot because someone else was in the server and being really rude.)

wow, summersumz, even if we don't end up needing the info, your spreadsheet is beautiful! way, way nicer than the crappy ones i had going to get my "pairs of numbers" list. nice work!

Kaylen Aldanae, is there anything on the ceiling, like did M possibly leave clues to the cipher up there?

ugh, why i can't get out of the box!!! anyway, tako, cvxn and i are in chat - thinking of the similarity to "When they show you the path, remember how it goes." but, we also realized that on/above "the beginning" sign in your screenshot, it almost looks like there is an arrow. can you see anything if you look up? on the wall? ceiling? or maybe we're trippin'. EDIT: damn, i should have known cvxn would beat me! haha

Danagel had a great idea to put the elements in the holes lining the walls of M's room. I have theorized that we need to put the elements that M provided in the treasure chests (fire, water, earth) into the holes in the orders in which the elements were placed in the alchemy kits. (Air = an empty hole) We are waiting on the results from Kaylen.

I was headed to the Hill to do it but he was busy laying out the glowing tictactoe board I guess. So it was done AFTER he'd already made that.

Here's what the room looks like now. Jed moved the element blocks around after this picture was taken.

can the mods close this thread, since this cipher is solved? or move to the 'archive' section, or whatever it's called?
