Those of us using smartphones to stay connected to the chatroom while we're on the go are probably all agreed that the current IRC webchat is poop, so a client app would be much welcome. Who's got some suggestions? I personally use iPhone, but I'm sure others would welcome suggestions for all platforms. Anyone care to post what works for them? (You included, M) It's just for FTS at the moment, so I'm not willing to pay more than a few dollars... obviously, the cheaper the better.

Rooms and Colloquy will time you out and eventually disconnect if you've not actively got the app open.
With Colloquy, you can disable the phone autolock, but you still have to keep the app open. You can determine the time until multitasking times out, but only as immediate, 1, 2, 5 and 10 minutes.
I didn't explore Room's options as much because the interface and navigation was not to my tastes.
In short, neither are a really good option for being able to pop in and out of an app, perhaps even for extended periods of time, and still be able to stay caught up in the room without disconnecting/reconnecting.

I have an Android phone so I don't know if this app is available for the iPhone, but when I'm in the chat on my phone I'm using qIRC lite. It's free, so it's pretty no frills, and I think it's technically in beta still, but I haven't had any problems with it. But most of the time I'm in the chat on my PC.
