Well, the route I found with the iron was really long and made primarily with redstone repeaters. When I got to the end/start, it was a pressure plate. So I'm guessing that was the circuit that resulted in whatever happened to the tree, because it went from the pressure plate to the bedrock monolith.

I think that being archeologists of sorts here isn't a terrible idea. I'm no good with the numbers, but it's interesting to look and try to sort of reverse engineer possibilities of what could have happened in-game at least. How deep was this route? Where did it lead? One of the corner gold cubes? I missed what actually happened when the pressure plate was activated. Something with a piston, but i don't know if that pushed water or a chest or what. I was exploring the edges of the water when everything was getting crazy. Mostly hiding in a tree at night.

I was at work so I didn't get to get on at all. I've just been exploring and trying to put the pieces together with what I've got.

By the way, with the pairs of identical numbers, since there's only 1-7 that are repeated, I figured that maybe they were notes to a song. That idea kind of fell flat with me though. If someone else wants to pursue it though, they're more than welcome to.

Today M posted regarding a lovely memorial that I believe jedpeter and Kaylen (unless I am greatly mistaken regarding credit where it is due) created on the Minecraft server. The following screenshots detail how to get to the hill and what was there. Please don't mind weird daylight times, I took them after we first found the painting. The place "where the transgression took place" is the pressure plate that was used to activate the piston below the tree. The only way to get there I know of from the spawn point is to find the place by the bedrock where the tree once stood and find the entrance to the circuit tunnel. Follow it and you'll come out on the other side of the lava wall. Climbing on top of the gold lava brazier I looked around to get my bearings and I saw a trail of torches leading off into the forest. The torches led up a hill. At the top of the hill was a bed and a house made of bedrock. The steps were made by me later to reach the top of the house. At the top of the house was a hole in the ceiling which dropped into a room. On the wall was a painting, a Minecraft version of Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog. Perhaps he's saying that now further time spent on the server is just wandering with no purpose?

I got on the server and M showed up. The Wanderer painting had been removed previously (Kaylen took it for safe keeping, probably fearing griefers), so M replaced it with another, one called Match says Kaylen.
I've got a screenshot, but it's late and I'll have to get it on an outside service to link to.
He had closed off the area but let me in to see the painting (I guess because it was a response of sorts to the shrine). There was another painting on the ground when I got there. I was about to die, so I put it on the wall to see what it was. I don't know if M can determine the first painting that will be shown or not, so this may not be relevant. But the painting was of Void. (I also have a screen cap). He immediately removed it. Then he let me out of the area. So I think maybe he just dropped it and I wasn't supposed to have it. Or even if he was giving me a painting, the randomness of which one means there is no import (except to me, I guess).
He reset the server and renamed it The Lost Garden.
The area he finds important, he sealed up yet again and it is inaccessible. A mini monolith.
I don't know if he just waited long enough for me to be able to see or not, but there was deliberate action tonight for sure...for those that say the MC angle is dead. Maybe he's routing around/through it still. I don't know.
For me personally though, until he makes it hardcore with permadeath or takes it offline, I'm going to keep playing and exploring and trying to restore it a little bit. I'm sure M would make it painfully obvious if we were wasting our time there. The simplest way to be just shutting it down, which hasn't happened.
If you guys play and you have the ability to destroy (most do), please try not to destroy the underground circuit or the golden braziers or other things obviously placed by M.

That's fascinating, jedpeter. I can't wait to see the new painting, and I hope the use of "match" is significant for code-breaking purposes. Is it still about the numbers, or is he using pictures to tell us we should be matching pictures? Like, using kits from the only people connected to each other? Those would be A147 and A156, according to the Kickstarter rewards spreadsheet. (Unless I'm missing some other match.) Or are we heading to Match.com for our next phase? ;-) (j/k!*) "The Lost Garden" is incredibly exciting to me because Paradise Lost is my favourite poem, so that shit is right in my office (so to speak). I also realized that the all caps message in the Minecraft book has no ability to reflect acronyms, so it is remotely possible the end part could be "remember how IT goes" (as in Internet Technology). But it is late at night, and it could just be the post-work popcorn talking. * I think... unless it's true!

How much more specific can I get? Just simply the name of the painting?

The name of the painting is "Wanderer".
I don't know, but this is too much pressure. @~@ I just wanted to build, not be your guide and savior to figuring out this puzzle. But according to M last night, you're all lost and you're all depending on me and what I know and saw in that room.

Guys, there is a picture and a torch.
"Bring light to those who hold each other dear"
I still believe this to be related to the couples photographs that were mailed out in the kits. Perhaps rather than black light enabled, there is a heat-enabled message on them. I remember from when I was a kid that you could write heat-sensitive invisible ink with some lemon juice. Last night before I went to bed I sent asks to all the photograph recipients to see if any of them would blow a hair dryer over the photograph. As far as I can tell, it should approximate holding a torch next to a picture.
So far - no response.

I know people have tried the blacklight, but I feel like he keeps circling back to flame for a reason. I wish I had a picture to test this theory!

You guys are geniuses! That's got to be it. HEAT. from the light.
I wish I was as smart about this stuff as some of you guys.
Now I would agree that maybe MC may be a dead end for further FTS advancement . I still want to know what the original puzzle would have shown us or how it would have gone.
I'm still going to work a little bit to restore some of the Garden anyway.

I'm still going to work a little bit to restore some of the Garden anyway. The possibility of heat activated ink has already been explored a bit. Enaxor used blacklight to see if there was anything on her photograph when she received it. Typically the ink would be able to be seen then, but there could be tiny holes poked into the photographs that you can't see unless you hold it up to the light. Or something else even. No harm in exploring all options.
